Boulders on a Sloped Driveway in Hartland, Michigan
This boulder wall was built alongside a sloped driveway. We needed to retain the hill as well as build the wall so that it appears as level as possible. Looking at these pictures you can see how we terraced the wall to keep the wall level. We used a consistent 18-24″ sized boulder to keep continuity as well as solidarity. Another interesting point about this wall is that we had to build the back wall first, because my forks would not have been able to reach over the planting terrace. Knowing this in advance we compacted a back ledge and layered additional fabric so there would be less future settling.
